What information should a Polyimide Film buyer prepare?
A useful Polyimide Film sourcing discussion begins with the buyer's real application and a structured requirement—not a generic request for “PI Film.” The RFQ should identify what the material is expected to do, how it will be supplied and processed, and how the buyer will evaluate it.

Material form
Identify the complete material construction.
Bare PI Film, treated film, adhesive-backed Polyimide materials, and converted constructions are not interchangeable terms. The RFQ should state which form is required and what downstream process it must support.
Bare Polyimide Film
Film without an adhesive-backed construction. Confirm the intended role, surface condition, dimensions, format, and buyer-defined evaluation requirements.
Treated Polyimide Film
State the required treatment or surface condition, treated side, downstream process, and documentation needed for review.
Adhesive-backed or Converted Materials
Clarify the complete construction, including adhesive, liner, coating, lamination, cutting, or other conversion. These are not the same product as bare PI Film.
Specification communication
Define dimensions, performance, and process requirements.
Provide buyer-approved requirements or an evaluation range. This guide intentionally does not prescribe thickness, width, temperature, dielectric, or other performance values.
Application and end use
Describe the component, assembly, process step, operating context, and the role the material is expected to perform. Avoid relying on a broad application label alone.
Thickness
Provide the buyer-approved film thickness or total construction requirement and identify whether it refers to bare film or a multilayer material. Do not assume a nominal value confirms suitability.
Width, dimensions, and roll format
Specify width, sheet size, converted dimensions, roll or sheet form, winding or core requirements where relevant, tolerances, and handling expectations that need confirmation.
Thermal requirements
Share actual process and operating conditions, exposure duration, and the buyer's test or acceptance requirements. A general PI Film description is not a verified temperature rating.
Electrical requirements
List the insulation role, buyer-defined electrical priorities, relevant test method, conditioning, construction, and acceptance criteria that must be evaluated.
Surface and treatment requirements
Confirm surface condition, treatment, adhesion, release, coating, cleanliness, side designation, printing, lamination, or downstream processing needs.
Commercial and evaluation context
Complete the RFQ beyond the material specification.
Documentation
List the technical, quality, test, inspection, compliance, traceability, and shipment documents your organization requires. Availability must be confirmed for the specific supply option.
Quantity and MOQ discussion
Provide the estimated sample and order quantities and expected purchasing frequency. Any minimum order quantity is supplier- and specification-specific and must be confirmed rather than assumed.
Destination country
State the destination country and, when known, the delivery location or trade requirement relevant to quotation and export coordination.
Packaging and shipping
Describe roll, sheet, moisture, protection, labeling, pallet, handling, or shipment expectations that require review. Final packaging depends on the material and agreed supply arrangement.
Requested timing
Share sample, evaluation, qualification, and required delivery timing. Lead time should be confirmed only after the specification, quantity, and supply option are defined.
Sample and evaluation
Explain sample dimensions, quantity, test plan, evaluation owner, acceptance criteria, and whether the request is for research, qualification, or active purchasing.
